Venue Updates
Excavation, demolition, gutting and more has begun at Grand Gimeno as we draw closer to our goal of a November completion date. What once was an old YMCA is currently transforming into a breathtaking Spanish Colonial Revival masterpiece. Imagine this: You arrive at Grand Gimeno and are greeted by a bubbling Spanish fountain just behind the venue gates. Good company awaits you on the other side and just as you step into the front courtyard a refreshing beverage is handed to you. Blue window frames and white stucco arches are the backdrop to lush landscaping and double doors invite you into the foyer where a wrought iron chandelier hangs above. You look to your left and you look to your right, and the end of each wing you see cozy, romantic fireplaces burning and bringing warmth into the space while natural light seeps in through many windows. Ahead of you, two more double doors leading into the main event space where charming details like exposed ceiling beams, wooden flooring, and massive windows fill the room with character. And in the very back of the venue, just outside, a large courtyard (much larger than the one in front of the venue) offers fresh air and fun with a live fire cooking station for an Argentine Asado and custom pizza oven. You can smell the delicious foods cooking as tempting aromas surround you. This is Grand Gimeno. Your dream wedding or event can happen here. All you need to bring is your unique vision.
To date, we’ve completed painting the window frames blue, installed wrought iron chandeliers in the foyer and wings, sandblasted the ceiling to expose beautiful original wood, installed new plaster AC vents, added sconces in the front courtyard breezeway and completed the creation of our custom pizza oven (not yet installed).
While you are reading this post, we are hard at work tiling both fireplaces, excavating the back outdoor courtyard and landscaping, painting the interior and exterior, renovating both suites for a more open layout concept, restoring hardwood flooring, installing two tone arabesque & cross pattern floor tiling, oil-rubbed bronze faucets, dome pendants and sconces to all bathrooms, installing charcoal and hacienda accent tile with hacienda picket pattern floor tile throughout the groom’s suite, tiling the bridal suite with earl grey and hacienda accent tile with hacienda picket pattern floor tile throughout, tiling the front courtyard breezeway and foyer with charcoal and old California accent tile with old California octagon tiles, and tiling both wing’s floors in earl grey and old California accent tile with old California octagon tile. Once room construction is complete and the flooring is in, we can begin adding accent finishes and furnishings tying into the Spanish Colonial Revival style of the venue.
